Ram Families,

We had a great first week of school at Roosevelt. Our Rams are working on learning their daily routines and practicing meeting our RAMS Expectations, Respectful, Always Responsible, Make time to be Kind & Safe Choices.  This month we are celebrating students who demonstrate our character trait of EMPATHY. Empathy is showing care for others. Please talk with your family about ways to be empathetic.

We have really high numbers of students in our 4^th & 5^th Grade classrooms. Thank you to those families who reached out to talk about their concerns. I am working with the district to find a solution.  I will be messaging to families next week when I know more.

To DO:

• Roosevelt has immediate openings for 4 year olds in our Transition to Kindergarten PreK class, please call our office for more info Register now.
• We need all families to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefits (CNEEB) application so we can continue to provide meals for all our students.
• Register now for Beyond the Bell Session 1.  Registration is 80% Full.  Register now through Sept. 11 on Compass: TPS Family App

Arrival & Dismissal 

We have seen improvements in our arrival and dismissal routines but we are still working out the bugs, Thank you for your patience. 

Here are a few things you can to dot make things work more smoothly:

• Be safe first, watch for other cars and make sure you are not asking your student to step off the curb around other cars.  That is very unsafe.
• Take turns when entering the back parking lot, cars can que up on both sides of Gregory Street.
• Display your Valet number in the front dash of your car, this makes things much quicker
• Pull up to the correct cone, your child will be waiting there
• If you are in a RUSH, come later, there is little to no line to wait in after 8:55 am, there is little to no wait after 3:35.
• Be Kind to our staff, they work hard all day in support of our whole Ram Family.  Please do not take your frustration out on them.

MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES AND OTHER WAYS TO KEEP HEALTHY
Our schools have skilled counselors who can help with academic, career and social-emotional guidance. If your child needs support beyond what a counselor can offer, TPS also has exceptional mental health partners who provide services at schools. School counselors can assist with referrals to our partner agencies. Find behavior health resources here.

SCHOOL MEALS
We need all families to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefits (CNEEB) application so we can continue to provide meals for all our students.

Breakfast and lunch are offered at no cost to Tacoma Public Schools students all year. You can find the menu on our school website or by downloading the MySchoolMenus app. Meals will start showing up in the menu soon.

BUS ROUTES NOW AVAILABLE IN MY RIDE K-12
If your child plans to take the bus to school, please download our free transportation app, My Ride K-12 for bus stop location, route and pickup times. Bus routes are now available.

UPDATE YOUR PARENTVUE ACCOUNT 
The ParentVUE app helps streamline where you can find information and take care of school-related business. 

When you log into ParentVUE, you will be prompted to update and verify your contact information, your child's health history, and other important information.

During the school year, you can: 

• View attendance, schedules and assignments
• Report absences
• Monitor your child's grades and academic progress
• Update your contact information
• Access MySchoolBucks and annual student forms  

If you haven't created a ParentVUE account yet, you will receive an email directly from Synergy with an activation link. 

TECHNOLOGY HELP
Please ensure your child's district laptop is updated, charged and ready to bring on the first day of school by plugging it in, connecting to Wi-Fi, and leaving it on overnight. Get help with school district laptops.
