Ram Families,
This week at Roosevelt, we celebrated our first students of the month. Our September Character focus was Empathy. Students who are very good at showing empathy to others were celebrated for understanding and caring about the feelings of others. We also celebrated our RAMS traits awards winners for showing Respect, Always Responsible, Make time to be Kind and Safe Choices. Finally, our golden awards are given to classes who are picked by Library, Music, PE, Cafeteria and Mr. Matthew our custodian for being the best classes this month. Next month, Students will begin being recognized for their Good Attendance, being at school 90% of the time or more.
Please join us this Thursday Oct 3 @ 5 pm for our Fall Open House. Learn about our school wide goals and progress and visit classrooms to hear your child talk about their Project Based Learning focus on individual and class identify.
Student Led Conferences: This year, all classrooms will be having students lead their conferences. Please plan to attend and hear your child talk about their goals and plans for learning this year. Oct 15, 17 & 18.

Arrival & Dismissal
Reminder: Please do not have student arrive before 8:50, there is no supervision for them. We are seeing a number of 4th & 5th graders arrive early, please remind them to walk to school so they get here just in time. We are worried about their safety.
Attendance
Good Attendance is being at school on time, 90% of the time. That means missing less than 2 days a month. Please encourage healthy habits by washing hands regularly and getting plenty of rest. When students are here every day their learning is amazing!! Thanks for your support.
Classes who have 5 days of 100% of students at school earn a class reward. They love paying attention and cheering when they are all here.
SAFETY Reminders: Rules for building visitors during school day
We want to ensure that all of our buildings provide a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
If you visit our school during the day, please:
- Enter through the main entrance and sign in at the main office
- Provide a form of identification
- Follow all posted signage related to prohibited activities on school property
Thank you for your help in keeping our school safe.
Reminder: Please complete CNEEB application
Have you completed the CNEEB application? I’m asking all families to complete the application by Oct. 1: MySchoolApps - Select District.
It’s important because it helps schools get additional resources for students, and it helps many families directly with benefits like fee waivers for school-related activities.
It takes about 10 minutes to complete on a phone or computer. Feel free to take care of it at our school’s front office. Families can choose to translate the application in their preferred language.
Printable applications are also on our website at: https://www.tacomaschools.org/departments/enrollment/annual-forms.
Questions? Contact our front office or email householdapplication@tacoma.k12.wa.us.
Thanks for another amazing week at Roosevelt!
Sincerely,
Thank you,
