Sept 27, 2026: Family Message

Ram Families,

This week at Roosevelt we had our first Family Lunch.  It was wonderful to see so many family members come and have lunch with their students on Friday.  We will host family lunch every “Last Friday of the Month.” Families are welcome to come and visit with their students or bring them a special lunch during this time.  Please give us feedback on how to make this work better for you.

Family Tip: Support your young learners by playing a game that focuses on the first sound in words. Say, “Sun starts with /s/,” and invite your child to repeat the sound and name the letter S. Try other familiar words, such as ball, moon, or dog, and keep it playful by celebrating their listening and thinking.

Reminders:

  • Safety Protocol: ALL adults on campus must have a badge or a visitor sticker.  Visitors (even parents or family dropping students off) must sign in and wear a visitor sticker in a visible place.  That way our staff knows you have permission to be in the building. Thank you.

Class Changes

You should have received an email and a message from me on Thursday explaining the changes we are experiencing to our teaching staff.  If your child will have a class or teacher change as a result, you should have also received a specific email from me. These changes will take place on Monday, September 28th.

Keeping students safe at school

We all have a role to play in keeping our schools safe.

  • Bullying is not tolerated. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation can take many forms, including online posts, and verbal or physical acts. Report harassment, bullying or intimidation here.
  • Schools are weapon-free, drug-free, tobacco-free, and alcohol-free zones
  • Threatening a school is a crime. Any threat to a school, student, or staff member is taken seriously. If you see something, say something. We encourage everyone in our community who sees or hears a threat to call 911 and notify the school.

When should kids stay home from school?

Take a look at our website for tips to understand when students are too sick to be at school and when they can return to normal activities.

If you're looking for a healthcare resource, MultiCare and SeaMar offer school-based clinic services to all Tacoma Public Schools students. The clinics are at Mount Tahoma High School and Lincoln High School. Get more information about the services they offer and when:

Please complete CNEEB form

As of September 25, 84 Roosevelt families still need to complete the CNEEB form for the 2026–2027 school year. Please complete the form by October 1 so Roosevelt can receive all available support and families can access potential fee reductions for programs, activities, materials, and college applications or tests. Thank you for helping our school and families benefit from every available resource. Complete CNEEB form.

With warm appreciation for our Ram community,

Kim Hildebrandt, Principal
