Sept 20: Family Message

Ram Families,

This week at Roosevelt, 1st – 5th grade students worked to complete their initial iReady Assessment in Reading and Math.  95% of students completed this assessment.  iReady tells us where students are in relation to the end of year standards for reading and math.  Right now 10% of Rams are reading on grade level, 42% of Rams are within one year of grade level skills.  We are working on making plans to support all our Rams to become better readers.  Please encourage your student to read at home.  In Math, 7% of Rams are on grade level, 45% of Rams are within one year of grade level skills.  We are super excited to see all the learning and growth that will take place this year at Roosevelt.

We still have really high numbers of students in our 4th & 5th Grade classrooms. We have been given approval to add a classroom.  I will be communicating more about this process and the change in classrooms next week.

How to check class assignments
If you would like to see what your child is working on at school, you can use ParentVUE on a mobile device or on a desktop. If you'd like some help doing that, check out ParentVUE - Tacoma Public Schools (tacomaschools.org)

When to keep your child home from school
You can help limit the spread of infectious illnesses by keeping your child home from school when they are sick. Students should stay home if:

  • They are too sick to participate in normal activities
  • They need a level of care or observation not manageable at school
  • They create an unhealthy or unsafe environment for others

If case you didn't know, MultiCare offers a school health clinic that's open to all Tacoma Public Schools students. The clinic is open three days a week throughout the school year; call to make an appointment. Get more details about the clinic, located at Mount Tahoma High School.

Please complete CNEEB application
Have you completed the CNEEB application? I’m asking all families to complete the application by Oct. 1: MySchoolApps - Select District

It’s important because it helps schools get additional resources for students, and it helps many families directly with benefits like fee waivers for school-related activities.

It takes about 10 minutes to complete on a phone or computer. Feel free to take care of it at our school’s front office. Families can choose to translate the application in their preferred language.

Printable applications are also on our website at: https://www.tacomaschools.org/departments/enrollment/annual-forms.

Questions? Contact our front office or email householdapplication@tacoma.k12.wa.us.

Thank you for sending your very best kiddos to Roosevelt.  They are the best and we truey enjoy them every day.

Sincerely,

Thank you,
