Ram Families,
We had a wonderful first week of school with all our students here at Roosevelt. It is so nice to meet our newest Rams and to see familiar faces again.
Families, you can help us establish positive school routines. At school we are working on basic classroom expectations, including, how to walk in line, how to self-manage during independent learning time, task initiation and managing emotions when we are tired or someone is bothering us. At home, you can help us by having a consistent bedtime. We find that lack of sleep makes handling challenges more difficult.
Reminders:
- The rainy season is fast approaching. Please remember to put your child's name in their coat so they can find it easier in lost and found. Consider sending along an extra pair of pants in case they get wet.
- Please do not send any sodas or teas with students in their lunches. We provide milk and water.
Thank you families for your generous donations to our classrooms. All of your contributions help our teachers provide everything our students need.
Family Connections
Join us this Friday for Family Lunch. Friday Sept. 25th, 2026.
Families are warmly invited to join us for Family Lunch on the last Friday of each month. You may bring lunch or simply sit and visit with your student during their regular lunch period. One of our primary goals this year is to increase family connection and engagement at Roosevelt. If you have any ideas for more connection opportunities, please let me know.
Lunch Schedule
- 11:20-11:50 TK, Kinder & 1st Grade
- 11:55-12:20 2nd & 3rd Grade
- 12:25-12:50 4th & 5th Grade
Classroom Changes at Roosevelt
To adjust for our student enrollment numbers, we need to make classroom changes. We anticipate that a few grade levels may be affected, and some students may need to move to a different classroom. Families will hear directly from me if their child is affected. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and flexibility as we make these difficult adjustments.
Open House Postponed!
We look forward to seeing you at our Open House when our classroom changes have been settled. I will let you know as soon as possible. If you would like to connect with your child’s teacher, please contact them directly.

Keeping students safe at school
We all have a role to play in keeping our schools safe.
- Bullying is not tolerated. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation can take many forms, including online posts, and verbal or physical acts. Report harassment, bullying or intimidation here.
- Schools are weapon-free, drug-free, tobacco-free, and alcohol-free zones
- Threatening a school is a crime. Any threat to a school, student, or staff member is taken seriously. If you see something, say something. We encourage everyone in our community who sees or hears a threat to call 911 and notify the school.
When should kids stay home from school?
Take a look at our website for tips to understand when students are too sick to be at school and when they can return to normal activities.
If you're looking for a healthcare resource, MultiCare and SeaMar offer school-based clinic services to all Tacoma Public Schools students. The clinics are at Mount Tahoma High School and Lincoln High School. Get more information about the services they offer and when:

Please complete CNEEB form
Have you completed the CNEEB application? I’m asking all families to complete the application before Oct. 1. It's used to help decide how money is distributed across the school district, including our school. It can also impact families directly by reducing fees for athletics, before and after school programs, and college applications. Complete CNEEB form.
With warm appreciation for our Ram community,
