This week at Roosevelt, students are working on taking our mid-year iReady Diagnostic Assessment.  Students get to see their mid-year progress and growth.  This is a great time of celebration and getting to see the results of the hard work students have done. Please ask your child about their results and talk about things they can do to continue to grow.  Our Rams are so proud of their growth.

This month at Roosevelt, our students are learning about and honoring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. To celebrate his legacy and the profound impact he made on our nation, we will be holding a special assembly on Friday, January 23, 2026. We invite all families to join us in recognizing Dr. King's contributions and the values he championed.

Please help our office support classroom safety.  We do not release students through the office after 3 pm.  If you need to pick your child up, please plan to get them before 3 or during our regular dismissal process.  Thank you.

Opportunities for students to join Beyond the Bell are open now. We have had 29 students register for program, we have 121 spots left.

Families with outstanding Beyond the Bell and Club B invoices are now required to settle their balance in MySchoolBucks before registering for future sessions. No student will be denied access due to financial need.

Free Dental Services at Roosevelt provided by Lindquist Dental

Dental hygienists and assistants will be here on January 23^rd to do oral health assessments, fluoride varnish, and dental sealants if needed on our students. This is a completely free service! Consent forms were sent home on Wednesday and should be in your child’s backpack. Please fill out all sections of the form and return in as soon as possible.

If you don’t find a form, please contact the office or stop in and we will make sure you get one. Again, this service is no cost to you. Take advantage of it!

Students, families invited to basketball night at UPS

Tacoma Public Schools students and parents are invited to a free night of Logger Basketball at the University of Puget Sound. Join the school for a reception and refreshments between the men’s and women’s games to learn about the UPS experience and the Sound Scholars Program.

Students of all ages are welcome, but there's no childcare at the event. Students at or below 8th grade must have a chaperone to attend. Students should bring their student ID.

What's on the February ballot for neighborhood schools?

On the Feb. 10 Special Election ballot, voters will consider two replacement levy measures. Propositions 1 and 2 would maintain safe neighborhood schools where students from every background have access to a high-quality education, technology and academic programs that prepare them for post-secondary success. 

Prop. 1 funds 17% of daily operations, including about 500 staff members, along with arts, music and athletics.

Prop. 2 provides access to technology for students and staff in all neighborhood schools.

Both are 4-year replacement measures. The existing levies are due to expire this year.
